New hotel opens at Sunland Park Racetrack

SUNLAND PARK, N.M. (KFOX14) — The Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino celebrated its new hotel on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The hotel is located next to the racetrack and casino. The 78-roomboutique hotel features upscale accommodations.

"The views of the Franklin mountains and the racetrack are just unmatched. There's just nothing like it in this market, and I think we definitely hit it on the head," said Sumer Linder, the hotel's co-owner and managing partner.

It's designed to host guests at the casino and also offers a place for business travelers stopping in the Borderland, officials said.

"The El Paso market, the Borderland market, has a huge business traveler demand, so we have the great fortune of being able to capitalize not only on a business traveler but also for the casino customers that would like to stay and enjoy themselves in the casino a little bit longer," said Linder.

Linder said this is just the start because the hotel was designed with expansion in mind.

The hotel is now open for business.

Rooms start at $109 per night.
